Digital economy through the lens of research.

University of Žilina researcher · teacher · traveller · manager

I study how Bitcoin, artificial intelligence and digital transformation are reshaping markets, education and business. I translate academic research into topics that make sense in theory and in practice.

What I work on

Research

Bitcoin and investing

How a fringe experiment became part of the financial system — and what that means for an ordinary person weighing up whether and how to invest.

AI and higher education

Artificial intelligence did not reach universities through strategies and directives, but through students and their laptops. I study what that actually does to teaching.

E-commerce and digital transformation

Digital transformation is not new software. It is a change in how a company earns, communicates and decides — software is only the consequence.

Selected research

2024 Bitcoin and investing

What the halving does to Bitcoin's price

It shows how Bitcoin can be approached with data instead of opinions — and where that approach runs into its limits.

Journal of Risk and Financial Management

2025 Bitcoin and investing

How the world taxes cryptocurrencies

If you have ever wondered how profit from cryptocurrency is actually taxed, this review shows why there is no simple answer anywhere in the world.

Data Science in Finance and Economics

2025 AI and higher education

What ChatGPT can actually do in management education

Instead of speculating about whether AI will "transform education", it shows concretely where it helps a student and where it leaves them stranded.

Trusting is fine. Blind faith is not.

Investing 7 min read

You do not have to be an analyst to invest. But you should know what you are getting into, where your return is supposed to come from, and what would have to happen for it not to arrive. On why understanding the mechanism beats belief — and why it helps even when an investment is a good one.

Web Design and Development

A course for students of electronic commerce, not for programmers. Over one semester a student designs their own project, then builds the site from that design with the help of AI, deploys it and presents it.

Currently working on

  • Guest Editor of the Special Issue “Cryptocurrency and Digital Cash”

I am editing a special issue of the FinTech journal (MDPI) on cryptocurrencies and digital cash. The submission deadline is 30 November 2026.

  • A monograph on digitalisation and the urban circular economy

I am writing a monograph on how digitalisation is changing the way the circular economy works in cities.

  • Peer-reviewing scientific papers

I regularly review manuscripts for journals in fintech, the digital economy and education.

About me

I research the digital economy, teach it, and work on IT projects that have to hold up outside of theory.

Alongside academic work I help run public-sector IT projects — how they are designed, tested, deployed and explained to the people who use them every day.
