Systems and projects I work on or have worked on — from higher-education registers to my own websites and courses.
Registers and portals for Slovak higher education that the University of Žilina develops and runs for the Ministry of Education. Every university in Slovakia uses them — and so has everyone who ever applied to one.
A single record of every student at a Slovak university. Universities feed it with data, the ministry draws its statistics from it and allocates funding by it.
My role: I lead the University of Žilina team that develops and runs the register for the Ministry of Education.
The register of university teachers, researchers and artists — their positions, programme guarantees and qualifications. Its public part, regzam, shows who teaches where. It holds more than thirty thousand people.

The register of higher education institutions, under which sit the register of fields of study, the register of study programmes and the register of habilitation and inauguration proceedings — one source on which institutions exist, which fields and programmes they offer and who qualified where as associate or full professor. The public listing of habilitations and inaugurations on Portál VŠ can be filtered by field, institution and faculty.

The Ministry of Education's system for the Talent Scholarship — support for students at Slovak universities worth 400 euros a month. It covers the whole path from application through selection to the decision and the school's confirmation of enrolment, including the documents for paying out the money and reporting.
My role: I lead the University of Žilina team that develops and runs the system for the Ministry of Education.
The system through which Slovak universities submit and manage projects of the Ministry of Education's Cultural and Educational Grant Agency, along with development projects. It covers the whole life of a project — from the call through submission, rapporteur evaluation and budget tracking to the final report. The public part offers an overview of funded projects and statistics.
My role: I lead the University of Žilina team that develops and runs the system for the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education's systems for international mobility — the Government Scholarships of the Slovak Republic that bring foreign students to Slovak universities, the selection of lecturers of Slovak language and culture for universities abroad, and records of the stays the ministry organises. Most of it runs out of public view, only the entry gates are visible.
My role: I lead the University of Žilina team that develops and runs the systems for the Ministry of Education.
One electronic application for several universities at once. Applicants fill in a profile once, their secondary-school results are pulled in from the online grade book and they follow the status of the application online. You can even sign in with your ID card.
My role: I contribute to the development of the application system.
The central place for information about Slovak universities — some forty institutions and more than five thousand study programmes in one place, plus the application, scholarships and registers. It was founded in 2005 on a proposal of the EUNIS-SK association with the ministry's support. The University of Žilina was among the universities that built it.
My role: I contribute to the portal's development, it is led by the team of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
A system for study stays and internships abroad, through which students and their Erasmus paperwork passed. It started as a ministry project and was a big one for its time. Today a private company runs it under the same address for a handful of universities and I no longer have anything to do with it.
My role: I built the whole project as its manager — from the brief to operation.
Websites and tools I built myself or with a few people.
A calculator that turns the advertised cashback rate into the real number, after subscriptions, fees, staking and monthly caps are taken out. It starts with the Crypto.com card, more cards are meant to follow. No accounts and no cookies, figures verified against the official terms. The project has been running since 2020 and was rebranded in 2026.
My role: I do all of it myself — from the idea to running it.
A free calculator that converts euros into bitcoin and satoshi at the current rate — type an amount into one field and the other two fill in. It works right in the browser, with no sign-up and nothing to install. The Slovak version counts in euros, the Czech one in crowns and the English one serves everyone else.

A portal that gathers public data on the mutual funds Slovaks actually buy at their banks — unit value, performance, drawdowns, and a source and date next to every number. No marketing filter and no investment advice. I am starting with a deliberately minimal version, though the topic has stayed with me since a student paper in 2003.
My role: I do all of it myself — from the idea to running it.
A website meant to be the home of the women's football community in Slovakia — league results, fixtures, news and club profiles, with clubs entering their own results through their own accounts. It ran for eighteen years, from 2002 to 2020, and made room for clubs outside the top league too.
My role: I ran all of it myself, YouTube channel included, and eventually sold it to the Slovak Football Association.
Grant-funded and international projects I have taken part in.
As guest editor I am putting together a special issue of the MDPI journal FinTech on bitcoin, cryptocurrency economics, digital cash, blockchain payments and central bank digital currencies. If you write on these topics, this is the place to send a manuscript.
My role: Guest editor of the special issue.
Institutional research at the Department of Communications from the days when bitcoin was still a curiosity for most people. We first looked for what actually drives the emergence of digital currencies, then sorted them by protocol, such as SHA-256, Scrypt or x11, and asked how they can be obtained, verified, spent and invested in. The goal was a concept of a digital currency of our own, usable in education.
My role: Principal investigator, leading a team of five from the department.
A KEGA project in which we turned the course Informatizácia podniku, roughly business informatisation, at the Department of Communications into an e-learning course — new exercises, content following the IT trends of the day and a Moodle course that full-time and part-time students complete online. The course was meant to serve other IT-related subjects at the department and faculty as well.
My role: Deputy principal investigator.
A KEGA project of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra — one university-wide Moodle instead of faculty installations, migration of old courses, courses for students with disabilities and training for teachers. The second part dealt with quality, that is a methodology for building courses, independent peer review and a competition for the best courses.
My role: Responsible for the University of Žilina part of the project.
