Web Design and Development
A course for students of electronic commerce, not for programmers. Over one semester a student designs their own project, then builds the site from that design with the help of AI, deploys it and presents it.
The seminars run as a single track across the semester, and each student carries their own topic through it from start to finish.
The first half is design: what the site is actually for, who it is for, how someone finds their way around it, a paper prototype, and finally an interactive prototype with a design brief. In this part one rule usually comes as a surprise to students — AI may only act as an opponent here, never as the author. The design has to be the student’s own.
The reason is practical. In the second half they build the site from their own design with the help of AI, and that only works if they can tell whether the tool is building what they actually wanted. Without a design of your own, there is no way to judge the result.
The semester ends with a deployed website, a written report and a presentation.
Seminar materials are on the course website (in Slovak).
